Anthony J. Messana, Member-at-Large

Tony Messana is a member of the American Kidney Fund (AKF) Board of Trustees and serves on the Executive and Public Policy Committees.

Mr. Messana is the executive director of the Dialysis and Transplant Program at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, California. His experience in the care of patients with chronic kidney failure has spanned more than 30 years and includes knowledge in the administrative, clinical and technical areas. He has served in executive positions with Fresenius Medical Care and Dialysis Clinic, Inc., overseeing the care at hundreds of dialysis centers treating thousands of dialysis patients. He also was a manager with Amgen in Epogen® marketing, overseeing public policy and reimbursement.

Mr. Messana has been active in the renal community throughout his career. His service has included serving on the boards of directors for the National Renal Administrators Association (where he served as president twice), Explore Transplant and the American Kidney Fund, and on the public policy committee for the National Kidney Foundation. He has received several awards such as the Mark Ziewiski Award for Service, the NANT Lifetime Achievement Award and the AKF Torch Bearer Award. He has published and spoken extensively on renal-related issues.
