Development Associate

Position Summary:

In the position of Development Associate, your input will be valued as you process gifts and handle constituent inquiries. We’ll ask you to embrace our current system and help move to new, more effective approaches.

Position Overview

Responsibilities:
As our Development Associate you will enter contributor data and process all contribution gift types, learning and adopting new procedures as we improve systems and diversify fundraising strategies. You will respond to and resolve issues with constituent requests. You will prepare correspondence relating to contributions that require the personal attention of our senior staff.  You will review your own and others’ work for accuracy and adherence to business rules.  You will attend regular meetings where you will share your observations and ideas, particularly a weekly Constituent Relations meeting.

Skills, Experience and Attributes You Will Need to Be Successful:

• 1-2 years fundraising experience in a non-profit environment helpful.
• Proficiency in database management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Accurate typing is critical.  Speed is helpful.
• Proofreading skills.
• Knowledge of Mail Merge helpful.
• Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge, Donor Perfect or other fundraising databases helpful.
• Organizational skills, especially the ability to embrace and implement principles of file management
• Ability to handle matters with a high level of integrity.

• Team player: You work with your colleagues to help AKF effectively manage relations with financial contributors and other constituents.
