Position Summary: Primary responsibility for assisting in planning, coordinating and implementing American Kidney Fund’s special events.

Position Overview
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Responsible for supporting the planning, coordinating, and implementing of special events • Under direction of supervisor responsibilities will include administrative duties such as coordinating event mailings and managing invite list, website updates, coordinating raffles, silent and live auctions, overseeing inventory, and various pre- and post-event responsibilities as needed • Assists with the production, distribution and maintaining of correspondence related to events, including to/from sponsors, contributors, committee members, volunteers, vendors, employees, members of the Board of Directors, and guests. • Assists with creating reports, articles and other materials. • Under direction of supervisor work with vendors on event specific arrangements, maintaining good relations with vendors. • Assists with the accurate tracking and reporting event budget expenses adhering to event budgets. • Assists other Development Directors with recruiting volunteers to assist with events and serve on event committees. • Coordinate event committee’s logistics e.g. scheduling meetings, taking minutes, etc. • Assists with sponsorship solicitations follow-up. • Assists with fielding inquiries pertaining to special events. • Under direction of supervisor communicates with the Office of Communications and Marketing to coordinate publicity and the creation of related materials for events. • Maintain the events’ files. • Support AKF constituents who conduct special events where the proceeds benefit AKF • Travel to select events as assigned with a minimum of 25% travel • Performs additional duties, as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 2-3 years relevant experience. Special events experience preferred. College preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, mail merge required. 40-50 wpm. Must be well organized, detail oriented, and able to effectively work independently and within a team framework. Must be able to prioritize, be dependable, manage a heavy workload and meet deadlines. Must have strong attention to detail and provide exemplary customer service. Ability to handle confidential matters with a high level of integrity. Should be proactive in coordinating and managing multiple events and be willing to take on additional responsibilities when needed. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to lift 30 lbs.
