Tony Messana is currently the Executive Director for the Dialysis and Transplant Program at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange California. His experience in the care of patients with chronic kidney failure has spanned 30 years and includes knowledge in the administrative, clinical and technical areas. Mr. Messana has also served in executive positions with Fresenius Medical Care and Dialysis Clinic, Inc, two of the largest dialysis providers, as well as consulted with Hospital Based and Free-Standing Dialysis Programs around the country..
Mr. Messana’s renal community service has included more than 18 years on the board of the National Renal Administrators Association in several capacities including President from 1990 to 1991 and 2006 to 2007. He also served as a one of the original workgroup members of the NKF – KDOQI Guideline on Hemodialysis Adequacy, is an Emeritus Member of the Life Options Rehabilitation Advisory Council, and has worked on committees or in a liaison capacity with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the National Institutes for Health and Institute of Medicine. He has also lectured and published extensively on clinical and administrative topics and serves on the editorial boards of trade journals. Mr. Messana is the recipient of the Mark Zawiski, Community Service and Leadership Award from the National Renal Administrators Associations and the Lifetime Achievement and Torchbearer Awards from the National Association of Nephrology Technologists.
Mr. Messana is a member of the American Kidney Fund (AKF) Board of Trustees. He currently serves as Chair of the Public Policy Committee and is a member of the Finance Committee. |
