John P. Butler
Chair-Elect
John Butler joined Genzyme in 1997 as product manager for Renagel®. He has led the company’s renal, endocrine, and cardiovascular businesses, managing Genzyme’s approved products as well as the development of the company’s cardiometabolic and renal portfolio. In 2010, Mr. Butler was appointed president of Genzyme’s Personalized Genetic Health business unit. He oversees a portfolio of products that includes lysosomal storage disorder treatments and cardiovascular products. Mr. Butler has also served as vice president of strategic planning, vice president of Renagel Europe, and senior vice president and general manager of the renal business unit. Prior to joining Genzyme, he worked in sales and marketing at Amgen. Mr. Butler is Chair-Elect of the American Kidney Fund (AKF) Board of Trustees, serves as Chair of the Board Development Committee, and is a member of the Executive, Health Insurance Premium Program, Public Policy, and Communications & Marketing Committees.
Mr. Butler has an M.B.A. from Baruch College and a B.A. from Manhattan College.
