Help increase kidney disease awareness and improve the quality of patient care
Make your voice heard. In June, the U.S. House of Representatives approved Medicare legislation that would increase kidney disease awareness and improve the quality of patient care. The reforms to Medicare’s End Stage Renal Disease Program (ESRD) are included in H.R. 6331, The House Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act and enjoy broad, bipartisan support in both the House and Senate.
The number of people with kidney failure is expected to double in the next 10 years. It is vital that Congress pass Medicare program improvements in 2008. The impact of kidney disease in our country is growing. Now is the time to enact quality-oriented changes and promote greater awareness about this disease.
Objections unrelated to the ESRD program improvements have delayed passage of a Medicare bill in the Senate. You can make a difference by urging your senators to include the ESRD Program improvements in any Medicare legislation considered this year.
