Elected officials help spread awareness of kidney disease in Chicago.

In August, the American Kidney Fund hosted Kidney Action Day to raise awareness of kidney disease in Chicago. Several elected officials were on hand in support of the event and encouraged attendees to get screened. Chicago Congressman Danny K. Davis, Secretary of State, Jessie White, and State Senator Mattie Hunter.


AKF kicks off the fall schedule with Kidney Action Day in Atlanta.

AKF recently kicked off its fall schedule of Kidney Action Days in Atlanta. Longtime supporter and Fulton County Commissioner John Eaves spoke to attendees about the importance of getting annual physicals and preventive screenings.


AKF hosts Kidney Action Day on the Hill.

On Wednesday, March 5, 2014, the American Kidney Fund teamed up with the Congressional Kidney Caucus to host Kidney Action Day on the Hill—AKF’s annual kidney health screening event on Capitol Hill during National Kidney Month.  The event also featured kidney health education, fitness activities and remarks from Congressional Kidney Caucus co-chairs Tom Marino (R, Pa.) (pictured on right) and Jim McDermott (D, Wash.) (pictured on left), Rep. Marcia Fudge (D, Ohio), AKF Advocate Anthony Brown, and AKF President and CEO LaVarne Burton.  Watch a slideshow of the event.

AKF advocates share their stories on Capitol Hill.

Ten AKF Advocates came to Washington, D.C., in early March for advocacy training and meetings with their Congressional offices.  During their meetings on Capitol Hill, Advocates raised awareness of kidney disease by sharing their stories, and urged support for federal policies and legislation that can benefit kidney patients and their families.
