The District of Columbia proclaimed June 11 to be “Kidney Action Day” in honor of AKF’s Kidney Action Day and Steps that Count event. Hundreds of participants walked the concourse at Nationals Park to bring attention to kidney disease, while hundreds more received free screenings from AKF to check for kidney disease risk factors. Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton was on hand, stressing the importance of prevention and early detection of kidney disease.
