Volunteer at Kidney Action Day or other screening events
The American Kidney Fund's signature outreach event, Kidney Action Day, is held in cities where rates of kidney disease are higher than the national average. Kidney Action Day is a free, fun-filled, family-friendly event with a serious purpose: helping people understand their risk for kidney disease and how to prevent it. Volunteers are needed in many capacities from screening-related roles to distributing information and snacks. In 2016, we are planning Kidney Action Days in Birmingham, Alabama; Philadelphia; Washington, D.C.; Chicago; Houston; and New Orleans. Volunteer at Kidney Action Day.
In addition to Kidney Action Day, AKF offers free health screenings, kidney health educations sessions and follow-up services (including medical referrals and public education materials). These services are provided at a variety of venues including churches, expositions and festivals, dialysis centers, community centers, colleges, and corporate offices. Similarly, volunteers are needed in a variety of roles.
