The Kidney Action Day Walk is a fundraising and awareness event that takes place during the American Kidney Fund’s Kidney Action Day. We invite walkers to stay and enjoy all the Kidney Action Day activities—free cooking demos and food samplings, fun exercise routines, free health screenings, and all the information you need in the fight to prevent kidney disease! Kidney Action Day and the Kidney Action Day Walk are part of the American Kidney Fund’s national campaign, Pair Up: Join the Fight to Prevent Kidney Disease.
Walk routes are designed to be accommodating to all walkers regardless of your level of fitness. We encourage walkers to go at least one mile and up to three miles depending on your personal comfort. No matter what distance you choose, you are helping the American Kidney Fund take action in the fight against kidney disease.
No. There is no registration fee for the Kidney Action Day Walk, but you must raise or donate a minimum of $25 online to receive a walk t-shirt. We also encourage you to ask your family, friends, and co-workers for financial donations to show their support.

Absolutely! But we hope you will make it in time for the welcome and warm-up at the start of the event. Even if you can’t make it in time to walk, we hope you’ll stay for the rest of Kidney Action Day which includes free cooking and fitness demos, health screenings and fun entertainment!
Yes. Many of our participants make it a family day and bring along family members in wheelchairs and children in strollers.
Walk participants who preregister at least a week before the event and donate or raise $25 or more online are guaranteed a t-shirt. Unfortunately, we cannot promise you will get a t-shirt if you don’t register at least one week prior to the event.
You may collect donations in person and either mail them to the American Kidney Fund, or turn them in at the Kidney Action Day Walk. Just follow these steps:
A team captain organizes and motivates a group of people to participate together in the Kidney Action Day Walk. Team Captains are responsible for recruiting people to join their team, naming their team, setting a team fundraising goal, and communicating with and encouraging their team members. Being a team captain is an important and rewarding task. By gathering family, friends and co-workers to join your team, you are increasing awareness and supporting programs that will help kidney patients who depend on the American Kidney Fund.
Yes, you may register as an individual walker or you may choose to join a team that is looking for more members. By coming to the walk, you will generate interest in the event and raise awareness and money for this very important cause—and meet some very nice people who, like you, are joining the fight to prevent kidney disease.
Most of our walk venues have restrooms. For those that do not, portable toilets will be available for use.
The Kidney Action Day Walk will take place rain or shine. (But we're hoping for beautiful weather!)
