March is National Kidney Month! This national awareness month is an opportunity to spread awareness about kidney disease, practice prevention methods and learn more about our lifesaving services available to those fighting kidney disease.
March is the perfect time to partner with the American Kidney Fund to raise awareness through our website, on social media, on the airwaves and at events around the country. Below are some great things we have planned for the month:
Though we have reached over one million kidney patients in our 45-year history, there are an estimated 31 million people living with kidney disease in the United States. We have a long road ahead. But each and every time someone like you chooses to step up and make an impact on patients’ lives, it’s a step toward our vision of a world without kidney disease. We are proud to call you a supporter and a friend.
You can follow our updates, news and resources using #KidneyMonth on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. We plan to share stories of inspiration, kidney health resources that would be helpful to you and your family and much more! Engage with us on social media and share with the world just how vital it is to know about kidney disease.
The American Kidney Fund offers free health screenings, nutrition and fitness presentations and follow-up services, including medical referrals and public education materials. We conduct screenings at a variety of venues, including churches, expositions and festivals, dialysis centers, community centers, colleges and corporate offices. Check our screening schedule to see if we’ll be visiting a town near you! During March, you can find us providing free health screenings in Memphis, Baltimore and Silver Spring.
Kidney Action Day comes to Alabama on March 19 with kidney health screenings, healthy cooking and fitness demonstrations, activities for children, and local entertainment.
