There are many people at risk for kidney disease and being able to share my story with others allows me an opportunity to make a difference. I was diagnosed with kidney disease in 1997. I was on and off dialysis for several years, and received a kidney transplant on January 5, 2011. I am so grateful to be alive. There is a history of high blood pressure and diabetes in my family line and I am eager to Pair Up with others on getting the word out about kidney disease. I have come to understand that knowledge is power, but empowering someone else with the knowledge you have gained is of greater value.
