About the Calendar Kids Program
For the past 19 years, the American Kidney Fund has conducted a nationwide art contest for young artists up to 19 years old who have kidney disease. Thirteen drawings are selected for inclusion in the annual calendar, and the cover artist is selected through online voting. The program provides an opportunity for pediatric patients to express themselves through artwork and to receive national recognition while increasing awareness of kidney disease throughout the United States. The Calendar Kids Program is supported by an educational donation provided by Amgen.
Learn About Our 2015 Calendar Kids Cover Artist
Madison Gordon, 18, from Goldbar, Wash., received the most votes for her entry, which she calls “Love Life.” Her drawing was inspired on a particularly tough day at dialysis; she was surprised to see her dialysis tubing had formed itself into the shape of a heart.
Congratulations to Madison, who was an honored guest at the American Kidney Fund’s annual gala, The Hope Affair, in Washington, D.C., in October 2014.
And congratulations to the other winners of the Calendar Kids Art Contest, whose work will appear throughout our 2015 calendar.
