John Stanifer, M.D., M.Sc.

Awarded the American Kidney Fund-Amgen Clinical Scientist in Nephrology fellowship. Stanifer completed his residency at Duke University where he is also now completing his Renal Fellowship. Dr. Stanifer’s research aims to assess the health literacy of individuals with chronic kidney disease from an underserved community in southeastern North Carolina with a large American Indian and African American population.

Susan Wong, M.D.

Awarded the American Kidney Fund-Amgen Clinical Scientist in Nephrology Fellowship, Wong received her M.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in 2009, and is completing her renal fellowship at the University of Washington. With funding support from the American Kidney Fund and Sanofi, Wong will research the reasons some older adults do not receive dialysis as treatment for kidney failure, also known as end-stage renal disease, and the circumstances under which that decision occurs.
