Laughter Therapy consists of breathing and stretching exercises followed by intentional laughter exercises and laughter meditation. It is a safe, low-intensity form of physical activity during dialysis that is connected to the reduction of chronic pain and depression. The therapy triggers endorphins and serotonin (two chemicals produced naturally by the brain that create feelings of happiness), resulting in the mind thinking the body is having a good time, ultimately leading to the laughter becoming real.
This webinar will cover recent research exploring laughter therapy during dialysis and provide demonstrations and recommendations on how to introduce laughter therapy into YOUR dialysis or CKD treatment program.
From this webinar you will walk away with:
- Increased understanding of the use of laughter therapy during dialysis
- Knowledge about the benefits of laughter therapy
- Awareness of laughter programs and how to access details of these in order to apply them to your own life or practice
