Richard Miller, MD
Dr. Richard Miller is a thoracic surgeon at UPMC Pinnacle Health in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. Prior to this he was a thoracic surgeon at Southcoast Health, a position he has held since 2012. He was the first Physician in Chief for Surgery at Southcoast Health from 2012-18. While at Southcoast he provided clinical leadership and direction for the Care Center by working closely with medical staff to assess quality of care, promote sharing of best practices and provide clinical development. He joined Southcoast as a thoracic surgeon in 2006 after serving as a thoracic staff surgeon at St. Luke’s in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
He is board certified in general surgery and thoracic surgery and he specializes in minimally invasive thoracic surgery and thoracic oncology.
Dr. Miller is a graduate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He completed a residency in general surgery at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey, and a cardiothoracic residency at West Virginia University. Dr. Miller also completed an advanced thoracic surgery fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Dr. Miller serves on the American Kidney Fund Board of Trustees and is on the Audit & Compliance, Medical Advisory and Kidney Disease Prevention, Education & Outreach Committees.
