
Amaka Eneanya, MD, MPH, FASN
An award-winning senior executive, nephrologist, business leader and innovator, Dr. Eneanya has an impressive record enhancing performance, mitigating risk, and driving change throughout complex multi-layered organizations. She possesses profound transformational, operational, and financial acumen along with a cross-functional background that includes patient experience, engagement and activation, digital health, and health equity. She has been cited in leading academic journals and major news outlets for her rare experience advancing changes in national and international healthcare standards and U.S. federal policies.
Dr. Eneanya is widely recognized for forging productive relationships with business partners, system and facility leadership teams, internal and external stakeholders. Her outstanding collaboration and communication skills inspire others and build consensus in achieving a shared vision that is aligned with overall operational strategy and strategic vision.
In her current role as Chief Transformation Officer for Emory Healthcare, Dr. Eneanya deploys an $80M budget to drive innovation across the organization and propel patient, provider, and community experiences to best-in-class status. During her tenure, she has improved patient access across the system, engineered $19M in cost reductions through length of stay operational improvements, enhanced patient satisfaction, elevated community integration and
engagement, and ensured care for the most vulnerable patients. She has introduced inaugural system-wide programs including Emory's first patient experience program, which has transformed hospital-specific patient experience staff into a comprehensive system of shared best practices and standardized approaches to processes, policies, and customer service – and the Office of Well-Being, known as EmWELL, which promotes well-being programs that
address environmental stressors among health professionals, faculty, and staff. While fulfilling her transformation role at Emory, she also serves as Associate Professor of Medicine for Emory's Medical School.
Prior to joining Emory, Dr. Eneanya served as the Head of Strategy and Operations in the €75M Global Medical Office of Fresenius Medical Care. In this corporate leadership role, she directed a team that managed global and medical enterprise risk, compliance, sustainability, and health equity.
Earlier, she was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, where she served as Principal Investigator managing $2M in continuous federal and private research funding in chronic kidney disease and health equity. She also delivered formal lectures and mentoring to faculty, medical students, residents, and fellows while serving as attending nephrologist.
Dr. Eneanya earned a Master of Public Health in Clinical Effectiveness at Harvard University's School of Public Health. After earning a Doctor of Medicine Cum Laude at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, she did her Residency in Internal Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston and her Fellowship in Nephrology at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Cum Laude at
Cornell University.
The author of more than 70 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Eneanya has been honored with numerous awards including STAT Status List's 2025 Major Influencer Award, the 2024 Community Impact Award bestowed by Women of Color in Pharma, and the University of Pennsylvania Medical School's Radhika Srinivasan Award for Humanism and Professionalism in Medicine, among others. She was recognized as a 40 Under 40 Leader in Minority Health and was a Fellow in Wharton's Edward S. Cooper Leadership Development Program. Her corporate Board advisory service includes Somatus and DaVita, both leading kidney care companies.
