Rick was a fighter. He never failed to speak up for those who were marginalized. He was diagnosed with kidney disease in his 40s. Rick suffered through that, diabetes, infections, a kidney transplant, innumerable hospitalizations and rehab stays, COVID, and so much more. Through it all, Rick never failed to maintain his relentless positivity. He was grateful for his life every day, no matter what he was going through. Rick was one of few genuinely good souls in this world. I was deeply privileged to know such a person in my lifetime. I will miss my dear friend until I, too, leave this world.
