Each year, the American Kidney Fund (AKF) brings Ambassadors to Washington, D.C. for advocacy training and meetings with their elected officials. They advocate on the most pressing issues for dialysis patients and transplant recipients. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, our 2022 Kidney Action Summit will be virtual. We hope this will encourage more of you to apply since you will not have to travel.

Before the event, Ambassadors will attend a training where they get practice telling their story and receive an update on the legislation we are supporting. On May 4, 2022, those Ambassadors will meet – over the phone -- with their elected officials to request they join us in ensuring people with and at-risk for kidney disease receive the health care they need and that we address the health disparities that have led to the disproportionate impact of kidney failure and COVID-19 on communities of color and underserved communities.

Please note that we will expect to receive a large number of applications for our 2022 Kidney Action Summit and we are limited in the number of folks we can accept. Even if you are not selected, we need passionate Ambassadors all year and will reach out with other opportunities to advocate on behalf of kidney patients, so please apply!

This application will close February 14, 2022 and all applicants will be notified on their acceptance by the end of February.
