Each year the American Kidney Fund brings a group of our Ambassadors to the nation’s capital for advocacy training and meetings with their elected officials on issues important to people with kidney failure.
On April 28 and 29, 2020, kidney patients, caregivers and loved ones will join the American Kidney Fund (AKF) on Capitol Hill to urge their elected representatives to protect living organ donors, expand Medicare coverage of immunosuppressive drugs through the life of the kidney transplant, and ensure that low-income kidney patients continue to have access to health insurance, even if they need charitable assistance to afford it.
Please note that we receive a high number of applications, and as these spots are fully funded by AKF, we are limited in the number of Ambassadors we can bring to Washington each year. Additionally, we choose participants from a wide variety of geographic locations to ensure our event has the maximum impact on the Hill. However, even if you are not selected, there are many opportunities to participate in AKF advocacy and we will reach out with other opportunities throughout the year.
AKF will cover travel expenses, accommodations, and meals for those selected.
