American Kidney Fund Debuts New Website Designed to Educate, Empower, and Engage Millions Affected by Kidney Disease

The American Kidney Fund (AKF) is pleased to announce its redesigned website, KidneyFund.org. The new website further enhances AKF's 50+ year commitment to being a champion for people with kidney disease and expands AKF's award-winning, evidence-based content for patients, caregivers, health care professionals and other members of the kidney community.

ROCKVILLE, Md. (Feb. 25, 2022)  — The American Kidney Fund (AKF) is pleased to announce its redesigned website, KidneyFund.org, launched just ahead of Kidney Month, which starts March 1. The new website further enhances AKF's 50+ year commitment to being a champion for people with kidney disease and expands AKF's award-winning, evidence-based content for patients, caregivers, health care professionals and other members of the kidney community.

Approximately 37 million people in the U.S. have kidney disease, the fastest growing non-contagious disease in the United States. A kidney disease diagnosis is life-altering, and AKF's new website provides resources and support for every step in the kidney disease journey.

"Our website embodies AKF's mission to fight kidney disease and demonstrates the breadth of all that we do on behalf of those living with kidney disease and the millions who are at risk. It creates a sense of trust, compassion, hope and strength," said LaVarne A. Burton, AKF President and CEO. "The new design reflects one of AKF's core values of putting patients first in everything we do."

In redesigning KidneyFund.org, AKF enhanced its robust educational content to maximize accessibility, ensured it is easy to understand for people of all levels of health literacy and continued to add Spanish-language resources, reflecting AKF's continuing work to advance health equity.

AKF's educational resources are regularly reviewed by members of AKF's physician-led Medical Advisory Committee. Expanded or new content on the topics of prevention, stages of kidney disease, post-transplant living and rare diseases have been added to the new website.

Key features of the new website include:

  • Redesigned homepage
  • User-friendly navigation
  • Improved mobile user experience
  • Resource library allowing people to find the content they need by filtering based on topic, keywords or their connection to kidney disease
  • Opportunities to get involved and support AKF
  • Expanded action center for AKF Ambassadors

AKF encourages all those affected by kidney disease and those who wish to learn about this chronic condition to visit KidneyFund.org. AKF recognizes and thanks Amgen for its generous support of the new website.
