IgA Nephropathy Awareness Day Resources

May 14 is IgA Nephropathy Awareness Day. On this day, the American Kidney Fund is joining the effort to spread awareness of this rare form of kidney disease and share resources for those people living with IgA nephropathy and their loved ones.

IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is a rare disease that causes your immune system to produce abnormal antibodies in your kidneys. This then triggers harmful inflammation and damage to the kidneys. Over time, this damage reduces the organs' ability to filter waste and fluid from the bloodstream, which can eventually lead to kidney failure. While there is no cure for IgA nephropathy, there are treatments to help slow the damage to the kidneys, potentially delaying or preventing kidney failure.

AKF's Rare Kidney Disease Action Network helps ensure that the voices of people fighting rare kidney diseases are heard and amplified. This network also works with the American Kidney Fund's educational team to help us amplify awareness about your rare disease and make sure that we are offering all the tools this patient community may need.

AKF's Rare Kidney Disease Action Network was made possible with thanks to Novartis, Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc. and Travere Therapeutics.
