Charity Navigator: Highest 4-star rating

In 2023, Charity Navigator, the nation's premier charity evaluator, awarded the American Kidney Fund its highest 4-star evaluation for sound fiscal management. This is the 22nd consecutive time the American Kidney Fund has received the 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, placing AKF on Charity Navigator's list of the Top 10 charities to receive the most consecutive 4-Star ratings — the only health nonprofit to achieve this honor.

AKF Donor Theresa B shares why it's important to support AKF.

My kidney transplant would not have been possible without my daughter [living donor], the medical team, and my caretakers that all helped to make this happen. I truly wish everyone has this opportunity to receive a living donor and have the support that I received.

Make a gift through a donor-advised fund

DAF Direct

A DAF is a centralized vehicle for charitable giving that makes it easy for donors to dedicate funds to support a nonprofit organization. It also provides an operationally convenient and tax-efficient method for donors to manage their charitable giving.

Give today through a donor-advised fund

With a DAF, charitably inclined individuals, families, and businesses make an irrevocable gift to a public charity that sponsors a donor-advised fund program, and may take an immediate tax deduction. Donors can then recommend grants over time to IRS-qualified 501(c)(3) public charities. DAFs also allow donors to approach their charitable giving thoughtfully by involving other family members or colleagues in their philanthropic decisions. Most DAFs accept donations of long-term appreciated securities and other assets, and donors can advise how the funds are invested, which could potentially allow tax-free growth, and could result in more money for AKF.

If you have any questions or would like to speak with someone on our team, please email us at contributions@kidneyfund.org, or call us 800.638.8299 and an AKF staff member will be happy to help.
